Chocolate making workshop in college was a fabulous experience.

Handmade Chocolate Workshop in College

Opportunities plays a very important role in our lives. In college I actively participate in various seminars and events organised by faculty members of various departments. I have posted my experience of entrepreneurship event; you can read it by clicking here. In one of those events, I introduced my skills as an entrepreneur and services provided by my team. One service is handmade chocolate customisation.
Students, Teachers and other faculty members appreciated me. After some weeks one of my teachers called me. She told me that she is organising a workshop for Especially abled students and ma’am wanted me to join the students as a guest there.

She explained that the workshop will be of Handmade Chocolates Making and it will be like an extra skill learning session for the students. According to ma’am I was supposed to teach students how to make handmade chocolates. So, I agreed and from next day I helped ma’am to prepare for it. She introduced me to the students of their unit. I gave ma’am the list of all essentials required in the workshop like ingredients, equipment and other material.

And finally, it was the day when workshop held. I went to the venue and I saw so many students sitting there with excitement. Principal mam was also there with other teachers of the department. I started with a self-introduction and explanation of a power point presentation created by me. In presentation I explained generic information about handmade chocolates and the flavours we were about to make.
At the end of the presentation everyone appreciated and supported me.

Customised handmade chocolates are delicious treats for chocolate lovers.
Handmade chocolates are good for health and taste buds both.

Moving towards the next segment of the workshop which was to teach them the process of making chocolates. Ma’am assigned a student to me for help. I started presenting ingredients including chocolate bases and flavouring elements like dry fruits mix, cookies, mint, nuts and more. I asked some students present there to chop ingredients, then I tempered chocolate in the microwave. After adding flavours in tempered chocolate, I asked some students to join me in pouring it in moulds.

Whole time I was observing that students were participating with so much interest. Even though they had special abilities and challenges in their lives they were so confident, enthusiastic. There was a will to learn something new and respect for seniors and teachers in their eyes both were mind-blowing. I experienced the joy of doing teamwork and we packed chocolates in beautiful colourful wrappers.

After the last segment we went to principal mam, wise principal sir and other senior departmental teachers to give them the mini hampers of chocolates. We got appreciation from all of them and then we finally returned back to the venue. We winded up the workshop, talked to each other and had fun.

I was very happy as it was a new experience to lead in a workshop and teach students a new skill. I was inspired by the confidence of those students and appreciation I got from my teachers. I collected so many memories and got some pictures. Next day teachers shared pictures and videos of the event with me. And some of them were there in college magazines, documentaries and newspapers. It was not the end. There was a third segment of this workshop which was a self-help group stall held in college. I was a part of it as well. Stay tuned for next chapter in this series, I shall update the link here when published.
