I have a nice bonding with all my teachers from my childhood. I like to talk to my teachers about my academic and professional activities. I believe our teachers guide us on the basis of their experience for our welfare. Once I had a conversation with a teacher about my professional activities and services. The department of economics of my college organised an event on Entrepreneurship and one of my subject teachers encouraged me to participate in it. She appreciated and considered me as a part of the ‘Entrepreneurship Event’.
Purpose of organising this event was to give information to those students who want to start their own small businesses by presenting live and relatable examples of other college students in front of them. There were two segments of the event. In the first segment students who were selected by organising faculty were supposed to participate and share their experiences of their journey as an entrepreneur.
I met two students. One had already passed out from our college. He had his own business of Academic Coaching classes and another student was in third year he had his own business of mustard oil extraction.
I was excited to give my presentation but nervousness was also there. I always get a bit nervous in front of so many people when I am on stage or in the spotlight but I like to participate as it is important for my overall development.
Event got started and the host asked our college principal to address and then ma’am asked the vice principal sir to say a few lines. Then the teachers of the economics department gave a speech. All the teachers appreciated the students and guided them really well.
I was the first to go on stage. I went on stage and started sharing my experience by using a power point presentation I created. I was nervous as always and fumbled also but my teachers were supportive. I got comfortable after some time. After my presentation everyone appreciated and teachers praised too.
I listened to the experiences of other students and they were really good. I was simply amazed and inspired with fellow students’ experiences. It was a day well spent or i should say invested in having interaction with seniors and alumnus.
In the second segment of the event, faculty from Economics Department gave some important details about the schemes launched by the government for young entrepreneurs. Teachers one by one present their power point presentations and gave necessary data and information.
At last, all the students got a chance to have some pictures with the principal. I am glad my teacher asked me to participate and I got this opportunity to learn.
I hope I will slowly improve my public speaking and will be more confident.
